Late night inking~
Playing around with color on Photoshop~
Compilation of sketchbook doodles~
I was looking at some of my old journals and posts on this blog, and I realized that I have changed sooooo much since Freshmen year. I think my art skills have gotten better but I think the idea of failure has developed over these past couple of years and it has really stunted my creative process. Sometimes I am too anxious to start a project or even draw.
On the bright side, I am starting to get out of this funk I’ve had since the beginning of the semester. I’ve also been getting much more confident in my work even though I still haven’t figured it out exactly what I like to do, or how I like to work. I keep on saying that if I had more time, I could produce better art – work that satisfies me and my assignments. But that’s just an excuse. I wish I was better at time management haha.
It’s a process. And the best advice that I could give myself (and to anyone that is struggling through art) is:
Just keep drawing!
Little green tea ice cream cone~
A couple of weeks ago, I went gallery hopping in Chelsea with Courtney, and we happened upon Yoko Ono’s Wishing Tree! I’ve never done it before, so it was really nice~
Then we met up with Valerie Chua! She was visiting NYC and we went to the Society of Illustrators to look at the Illustrators 56 show.
I am so grateful to have befriended and met other artists through Tumblr. * v* <3 And I hope to meet more!
Finally feeling sleepy - O-
It’s been so hard to focus on school work and commissions, but I think I am finally breaking out of this slump!
